Scope:
  • More than 900 spelling words are covered over a 35-week period.
  • This Program utilizes phonics keys and dictionary tips to ensure that these words are used correctly in their spoken and written language.
  • Spelling rules are taught that will enable students to spell many more words than in the weekly lists.
  • Listening skills are developed through weekly dictation.
  • Enjoying and appreciating good poetry.
Sequence:
  • Each list is studied for four (4) days.
  • Day 1: List and Word to Live By are introduces, rules are explained, and
  • study helps are provided.
  • Day 2: Students complete workbook activities. Write sentences.
  • Day 3: Students take a pre-test; read poetry selection for the unit
  • Day 4: Students review as a class via spelling bee, relays;
  • Test is given on the 5th day.
