Spelling:
Scope:
- More than 900 spelling words are covered over a 35-week period.
- This Program utilizes phonics keys and dictionary tips to ensure that these words are used correctly in their spoken and written language.
- Spelling rules are taught that will enable students to spell many more words than in the weekly lists.
- Listening skills are developed through weekly dictation.
- Enjoying and appreciating good poetry.
Sequence:
- Each list is studied for four (4) days.
- Day 1: List and Word to Live By are introduces, rules are explained, and
- study helps are provided.
- Day 2: Students complete workbook activities. Write sentences.
- Day 3: Students take a pre-test; read poetry selection for the unit
- Day 4: Students review as a class via spelling bee, relays;
- Test is given on the 5th day.
