High School Academics / Curriculum : Bible
Old Testament Survey
This class will highlight key messages of Old Testament books, and explore timeless truths about the person and work of Christ. Students will learn important historical, geographical, and biographical information that brings the Bible to life. Throughout this course, students will focus on examining historical facts and rethinking major truths and its application in their lives.
Grade: 9
Course Length: 1 Year
New Testament Survey
This class will examine the foundations of the early church and the faithfulness of first-century Christians through a study of Acts and the early Pauline Epistles: Romans, Galatians, Corinthians, and Thessalonians. Throughout this course, students will focus on developing spiritual depth as they continue acquiring biblical knowledge.

Course Length: 1 Year
Apologetics
Throughout the year, students will demonstrate and practice Bible-study techniques with a systematic approach. During the first semester, the students will focus on apologetics where students will learn how to defend their Christian beliefs against the claims of competing world views. In the second semester, students will focus on the inspiration, canonicity and authority of the Bible.

Course Length: 1 Year
Missions
Throughout the year, this course prepares students for independent decision making by challenging them to apply Jesus' great commandments to daily life. During the first semester, the students will focus on understanding the principles and procedures of missions, and give students a biblical foundation and practical methods for personal evangelism and discipleship. In the second semester, students will use this comparative religion study to defend their Christian beliefs against the errors of other religions and heretical sects.

Community Service
Students are expected to participate in the Maranatha Christian High School
[MCHS] Community Service Program. MCHS incorporates community service
into its graduation requirements. MCHS students make an impact in their
community by participating in a variety of service projects. Students
coordinate this involvement with the Bible Department. This program is
designed to involve students in following Jesus’ example of service and
love by serving others through a variety of ways.
