Scoop on SCRIP

WHAT IS SCRIP? Scrip is another term for gift cards. Scrip allows families to raise $$$ for Maranatha Christian Schools and set up a student scholarship fund that will be used as a reduction in your student's tuition.

Families buy gift cards at face value. Great Lakes Scrip credits our school a % of each card purchased. Last year some families reduced their tuition by nearly $500.00 and also helped fund PAC programs.

HOW DO YOU GET STARTED? Go to www.shopwithscrip.com. Click on the green "set up a family account box".  Enter your information including Maranatha's enrollment code: ACD5261831372.
You then sign up for Presto Pay. This is how you pay for your cards online. Once you are set-up
allow three days for your account to activate and then you can start ordering your scrip cards.

FUTURE ORDERS Simply order your cards each Monday 8:00am and you will receive your cards the same week on Thursday.

SCRIP NOW if you would like to shop "NOW" check out the SCRIP NOW merchants and print off vouchers right off your computer. Go to the website www.shopwithscrip.com.  Click on SCRIP NOW.  All the participating merchants are waiting for your purchase. Follow the prompts and print your voucher on your printer. It's that easy…

This is an opportunity for graduating seniors and current students to work at the polls and earn community service hours and stipend before they begin their summer fun. • Be 16 years of age by election day
  • Be a United States citizen
  • Have a grade point average of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (CA elections Code 12302)

High School poll workers receive:

  • 15-19 hours of community service credit and certificate
  • $75.00 - $145.00 stipend
  • Assigned bilingual Chinese, Filipino, Spanish and Vietnamese receive additional $15.00

If interested, please contact Mrs. Carlson.

MCS student, Alex Rogge, Making A Difference:

Fruit of the Vine began as an idea that I had a few months ago. One day I was thinking about the homeless and how they are malnourished. I know that plenty of people give them sandwiches and sack lunches, but how often do they receive fresh fruit? Do they obtain their daily serving of vitamin C and other nutrients? I decided to end this problem by creating a new non-profit organization called Fruit of the Vine.

I started off with a great idea: collect fruit donations from my neighborhood and give the donations to a larger volunteer program for distribution. I couldn’t do this alone, so I asked my friend to be Co-President with me. We would collect the fruit, and take the donations down to Interfaith Food Pantries in Escondido.  The Food Pantry would then use this food to make breakfast every day for all of the homeless who can come to Interfaith. Additionally, Interfaith packs sack lunches for the homeless. They assured me that the donations were greatly appreciated and would not last long.

I have researched which fruits come into season next and we will continue to seek for donations.  Our organization is still very small but we are hoping to expand to include others who could use the community service hours. We hope to have collected thousands of pieces of fruit donations by the end of the year.
