Summer Session Helps Increase Grades, Confidence, and Motivation All Year Long!

To succeed in school and life, children need on-going opportunities to learn and build essential skills. Summer Academic Enrichment Camps provide the perfect opportunity for children to retain their academic knowledge during the summer.

In addition, we offer a  wide variety of creative classes, so students can enjoy self-expression and discovery all summer long! CLASSES OFFERED
ELEMENTARY SUMMER CLASSES 2018

MORNINGS 

HIP HOP TO TK: 3 weeks M-F | 9am-12pm | 1st Session only | $510

Come and give your little one a wonderful opportunity to build a strong foundation for TK. Students will enhance their skills in oral language, vocabulary, phonological awareness, and alphabetics. Engaging activities will be provided to develop critical thinking skills through hands-on math and science discovery. Give your child a head start for the new experiences ahead in Transitional Kindergarten.

JUMP START TO KINDERGARTEN: 3 weeks M-F | 9am-12pm | $525

Give your child an opportunity to build friendships and get prepared for the first day of Kindergarten. Your child will enjoy reading, writing, math, and many more stimulating activities. To build social skills, students will work on separation transition and following directions. For academics, students will focus on visual memory and comprehension skills along with the use of fine/gross motor skills. Come and join us to get a jump start to Kindergarten!

READY, SET, GO TO 1ST GRADE: 3 weeks M-F | 9am-12pm | $545
 

Make a smooth transition into 1st grade with fun activities designed to get young brains stimulated. Our phonics games, reading strategies, writing, math and art concepts will get your child ready for the first grade by encouraging a positive outlook. This class functions as a  'summer review,' and will motivate your student to be ready for the next school year with a smile!

1st-3rd GRADE ENGLISH: 3 weeks M-F | 9am-12pm | $545 

Help your child get ready for the next school year by enhancing critical reading and writing skills. Phonics will be reviewed and practiced using work/spelling games. The 'love of reading' will be nurtured through read-aloud exercises, and shared reading will be incorporated into our writing projects. Come and join in the fun as we engage students in a learning environment that will build confidence and inspire your child to look forward to next year. (This class is for students who have completed grade to enroll in class).

4th-5th GRADE ENGLISH WRITING CAMP: 3 weeks M-F | 9am-12pm | $545

This writing camp is designed to turn your child into a creative writer using fun ways to learn how to write detailed meaningful sentences and paragraphs. The lessons are designed to not only tap into critical thinking but Common Core State Standards. (This class is for students who have completed their grade to enroll in class).

1st-3rd GRADE MATH: 3 weeks M-F | 9am-12pm | $545

Your child will become a 'Math Master' who will be able to investigate connections with numbers, fractions, and decimals. Students will build mathematical self-confidence through activities, worksheets, and games. Your child will explore the basic math skills needed to solve problems — while having fun! Come join us! (This class is for students who have completed their grade to enroll in class).

4th-5th GRADE MATH: 3 weeks M-F |9am-12pm | $545

Come and get a solid understanding of fractions, division, and multiplication. Review the many basic skills needed to move forward to the next grade level—including vital problem-solving techniques to connect mathematical ideas. Concepts to be reinforced include multiplication, division, mastery of facts, number sense, place value, geometry, fractions and algebraic reasoning. Math games will enhance learning while encouraging students to have fun with mathematics. A math workbook is included to help students learn at their current level or advance to the next level. (Must have completed grade to enroll in class).

K-8th GRADE INDOOR/OUTDOOR SPORTS & GAMES: 3 weeks M,W,F or T-TH | 9am-12pm | $340 or $260

Does your child love sports? We play all kinds in this camp! How about indoor and outdoor games? This class is for them! We will also include activities that improve strength and coordination, as well as good sportsmanship. Students will gain knowledge in how to play a wide variety of sports and games. Bring a friend and get ready to play basketball, dodgeball, steal the bacon, kickball, baseball and more! Students will have a blast playing games all day long—while making new friends along the way!

AFTERNOONS

2nd-6th GRADE KIDS CAN COOK: 3 weeks M,W,F or T-TH | 1-4pm | $350 or $275

If you love to cook and want to be a chef, then this class is for you! Have a whole lot of fun cooking in the kitchen while exploring different parts of the world by tasting, smelling and learning how to handle food. Busy chefs will practice measuring, stirring, rolling, baking, and eating the tasty creations they make. All chefs learn important safety rules, clean up procedures, proper etiquette, and kitchen manners. A small class size allows lots of hands-on fun. Students will create their very own recipe book to share delicious cooking ideas with family and friends. Bon appetit! 

2nd-6th GRADE S.T.E.A.M CLASS: 3 weeks M,W,F | 1-4pm | $350 

Come and watch the weather with us! Students will learn all about meteorology, with a special focus on the power of water. This class will place a special emphasis on critical thinking skills. Engaging as well as informative, this class is specially designed to immerse students in S.T.E.A.M. through collaborative projects and hands-on activities. Students will be able to recognize weather patterns and predict future changes in the weather. They'll explore how the powerful forces of water can reshape the earth's surface —building up beaches and carving out canyons and valleys. Water is so much more than something we drink!

2nd-6th GRADE S.T.E.A.M. CLASS: 3 weeks T-TH | 1-4pm | $275

Are you ready to learn about the different forms of energy — light, heat, and sound—using your critical thinking skills? Buckle up your seatbelt because this class will be empowering! Students will be immersed in a variety of fun hands-on activities while working collaboratively on genuine S.T.E.A.M. projects. The energy generated will be a stellar adventure!

K-3rd GRADE ARTS & CRAFTS: 3 weeks T-TH | 1-4pm | $275

Come and have a blast with arts and crafts! Students will roll up their sleeves and make incredible masterpieces to take home. The sky is the limit! Students will be encouraged to use a wide variety of eco-friendly materials mixed in with glue, paste, color markers pencils, clay—and a lot of imagination! All art projects are age-appropriate, and individual expression will be encouraged.

JUNIOR HIGH SUMMER CLASSES 2018

 

6th-8th GRADE JR. HIGH MATH: 3 weeks M-F |9am-12pm | $545

Our small class size gives students an excellent opportunity to brush up on their math skills. Review pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, integers, fractions and reasoning skills—or learn to master parts of an equation. Our math teacher utilizes a hands-on approach to help students practice their problem-solving techniques (including working with decimals and percentages). Repetition is used to help students develop confidence in their ability to solve math problems step-by-step. Math concepts in pre-algebra and algebra will be reinforced to help strengthen student knowledge—with the intent to help prepare students for the next level. Come and join us in mastering math while having fun! There will be no assigned homework or grades. (This class is for students who have completed their grade in order to enroll in class).

6th-8th GRADE JR. HIGH ENGLISH WRITING CLASS: 3 weeks M-F | 9am-12pm | $545

Come and join an exciting writing class that will inspire your student to read literature and informative articles and more! Our small class size gives students an opportunity to master detailed and meaningful sentences and paragraphs while preparing them for Common Core State Standards. Come and have fun with words while building up your writing skills for the next school year—and get ready to fall in love with the written word! No homework or grades assigned in this class. (This class is for students who have completed grade to enroll in class).

7th-8th GRADE INTRO TO COMPUTERS: 3 weeks M-F | 12-4pm| 2nd Session only | $545

This introductory computer course provides each student with the opportunity to learn the basics of Microsoft Office computer skills. In addition to keyboarding techniques, students will practice by learning Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel programs. Students will also be introduced to Computer Programming using online resources and the Scratch Programming Platform. Students who complete this course will be ready to use technology to complete academic research for educational purposes as well as other applications. (This elective class for MCS students can be waived by passing a hands-on computer test in class.)
