I have been part of the MCS team since 2017. I graduated from Point Loma University with a degree in Journalism. I also have a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Concordia University. My favorite thing about teaching at MCS is the students! I have a passion for helping guide students towards Christ, and am constantly wanting to learn more about how to teach them to passionately pursue their Savior. In my spare time I like to play with my daughter, either with her dollhouse or coloring. My favorite verse is "Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the Lord of hosts," which appears in the Bible in Zechariah 4:6.

I have been part of the MCS family since 1999. I graduated from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas with my Bachelors of Science in Fashion Merchandising and earned my teaching credential at National University in San Diego, California. I love teaching and serving at MCS because of the amazing families and students I have connected with over the years, and it is a privilege to share the love of our Savior, Jesus Christ. In my spare time, I love spending every moment with my husband, daughter, son, and playing with my incredible grandson, who is my favorite MCS student. My favorite verse is Jeremiah 29:11.
Teachers

Steve Brodsky brings more than four decades of experience in music, leadership, and ministry to his role as Band and Worship Teacher at Maranatha Christian School. A passionate educator and lifelong performer, he is dedicated to helping students grow musically, spiritually, and personally, cultivating excellence in both performance and Christ-centered worship.
Steve earned his Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Georgia State University and has held executive leadership roles with nationally recognized organizations including The Walt Disney Company, The Coca-Cola Company, Six Flags Corporation, The Home Depot, and Salem Media. Throughout his career, he has led high-performing teams, produced large-scale events, and mentored professionals across industries.
Beyond the classroom, Steve serves as General Manager and Board Member of the Coastal Communities Concert Band and performs with local ensembles, reflecting his lifelong love of music and community.
Steve and his wife Cathy live in Oceanside, California, and are proud parents of two sons. He is grateful to serve both his school community and God’s Kingdom through music and mentorship.

I have been part of the MCS team since 2013. I graduated from VA Tech, James Madison University, and Liberty Theological Baptist Seminary. I have a BS degree in Biology, an MS degree in Biology, and an MA degree in Theological Studies. My favorite thing about teaching at MCS is learning and teaching the beautiful life-changing Word of God, investing in the eternal destiny of my students, and receiving great satisfaction and encouragement from Christ. I have a passion for students to know Christ and to boldly make him known. I am constantly wanting to learn more about the Word of God. In my spare time I like to delve into Scripture, serve at Maranatha Chapel, enjoy my beautiful family, and lie on the beach with my husband listening to sermons! My favorite verse is 2 Corinthians 2:14.

I have been part of the MCS team since 2024. I graduated with a BA in Biblical Studies from Calvary Chapel Bible College in 2005 and am currently working on an MA in Theology from Veritas International University. My favorite thing about teaching at MCS is the Biblical emphasis that we get to put into everything we do. I have a passion for teaching the Bible while pastoring students. My desire is to build them in character and faith that they may become like the tree in Psalm 1, that is, rooted, flourishing, and with an abundance of fruit. I am constantly wanting to learn more about how to communicate effectively to young people to the end that they embrace God's vision for their lives. In my spare time I like to hang out with family at the beach, read, and go to my kids' sporting events and activities. I also love church! My favorite verse is Psalm 1:3.

I have been part of the MCS team since 2015. I first took on a couple long term sub positions and also worked with the summer school program. I graduated from UC Santa Barbara with a degree in Sociology. My favorite thing about teaching at MCS is working with the students, staff, and incredible families. I have a passion for working with students, sharing my faith, and ministering to them. I am always excited to incorporate new technology and implement new ideas. In my spare time, I like to spend time with my family and dogs and discover CA through camping. A favorite verses of mine is Psalm 23.

I began teaching at MCS in 2024. I graduated with a BA in Political Science from Sonoma State University. My favorite thing about teaching at MCS is watching the students' creativity come to life. I have a passion for students through creative challenges. In my spare time I like to read and go to the gym. One of my favorite verses is Romans 15:7.

I have been part of the MCS team since 2024. I graduated from UCSD with a BA in political science with a minor in English Literature. I am more than halfway through my masters in political management at GWU. I love the written word more than nearly anything, which is why teaching literature alongside the true word of God is my true calling. My hope is to help every student find the path the Lord has laid for them. I love to write, read, exercise, camp, eat rare steak and dark chocolate (usually not at the same time), and to spend time with my loving wife. Joshua 1:9 keeps His Light in my soul no matter how dark the day.

I have been a member of the MCS team since August 2022. I hold a BA degree in elementary education from The College of St. Catherine located in St. Paul, MN. One of my favorite aspects of teaching at MCS is the opportunity to pray with my students and share the love of Christ. I am passionate about fostering relationships and ensuring that everyone on campus feels loved and accepted. I am continually seeking ways to connect my teaching subjects—science and speech—with biblical truths and principles. In my free time, I enjoy spending quality time with my family and friends, whether it's relaxing at the beach or exploring nature through hiking. My favorite verse is Joshua 1:9.

I have been part of the MCS team since August 2024. I graduated from UC Santa Cruz with a BA in Psychology (Minor in Education), and from Point Loma Nazarene University with a Teaching Credential and MAT. My favorite thing about teaching at MCS is that as a school we uphold Biblical values and seek to instill them in our students. I have a passion for unveiling to students how all subjects can teach us something about the character and power of God. I am eager to learn more about how I can create interesting hands-on learning activities for my students. In my spare time I like to create art and play board games with my family. My favorite verses are John 19:30 and Revelation 1:16.

I have been part of the MCS team since 2024. Before that, I had been teaching at different small colleges for about ten years. I received my B.A. in History
(Religious Studies Minor) from San Diego State University. I also have two M.A.s: Mythological Studies from Pacifica Graduate Institute & Theology and Biblical Studies from Fuller Theological Seminary. My favorite thing about teaching at MCS is being part of a community that cares not only about good education but also about the students growing up into healthy individuals. I have a passion for the Bible, history, and learning in general, and I am constantly wanting to learn more about ancient history. In my spare time I like to write, go on walks in nature, and play games with my wife. My favorite verse is Colossians 3:14.

I joined MCS in 2021 after returning home to California from a 15-year adventure living all over the globe. I received my BA at UCSB and Multiple Teaching Credentials from Azusa Pacific. I am passionate about teaching Biblical Truth, praying, lecturing at women's conferences, and hosting ministry groups. My favorite mornings include an early start, Scripture over a cup of coffee, and a brisk prayer walk to connect with the Lord. Life with Jesus is an exciting ride, and I look forward to what the Lord has prepared for me to accomplish in each new season. My favorite verse is 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18.

I have been part of the MCS team since August 2021. I graduated from Lincoln Memorial University and Purdue University. I have a BA in Elementary Education and an MA in Literacy and Language. My favorite thing about teaching at MCS is the sense of community throughout the campus. I have a passion for teaching art all while teaching about Jesus, the Master Creator. I constantly want to learn new art styles and teach with a Biblical worldview. In my spare time I like to spend time with my family, whether that is at the soccer fields, beach, hiking, or traveling. My favorite verse is Proverbs 3:5-6.

I have been part of the MCS team since 2005. I graduated from Cal State San Marcos and have a degree in Liberal Arts. My favorite thing about teaching at MCS is the camaraderie amongst the staff and the family environment within our school community. I have a passion for creating a safe space for our students to learn technology and making sure they are equipped to understand the tools that are right under their fingertips while using their skills to glorify God. I am constantly wanting to learn more about how to make learning technology fun for all students! In my spare time I like to spend time with my family and go on different adventures. My favorite verse is Romans 8:28.

I have been part of the MCS team since 2017. I graduated with a BA in Liberal Studies from Point Loma Nazarene University and earned an MA in Teaching in 2019. My favorite thing about teaching at MCS is watching my students learn about the order and divinity of mathematics. I have a passion for helping students grow in their faith and am constantly wanting to learn more about advances in education, specifically regarding mathematics. In my spare time, I like to spend time with my family. We enjoy hiking, golfing, and attending sporting events. My favorite Bible verse is Deuteronomy 6:6-7. The opportunity we have as Christian educators is an honor, a privilege, and a responsibility.

I have been part of the MCS team since 2022. I graduated with a BS in civil engineering from the University of Florida, and an MS in the same from the University of Colorado. My favorite thing about teaching at MCS is that living out our faith and proclaiming the Gospel is an integral part of our school community. I have a passion for math and am constantly wanting to learn more about better ways to help my students learn and experience it. In my spare time I like to hang out with my family and run trains on my HO scale model railroad in my garage. My favorite verse is Psalm 118:24.

I have been a part of the MCS community as a parent and volunteer since 2012. Through the years, I felt God tugging on my heart to serve the MCS community at a greater capacity and in 2020 joined the MCS staff assisting the PE department. I am thrilled to bring years of experience as an athlete, a health coach and a soccer coach to help encourage and grow a passion for athletics, health and most importantly for our Lord in the students of Maranatha. I love attending my three kids’ sporting activities, the beach, camping with my family, reading and listening to worship music. My favorite verse is Hebrews 10:24.

I have been part of the MCS team since 2020. I graduated with a BA in business from University of San Diego and an MA in education from National University. My favorite thing about teaching at MCS is the privilege of watching students grow in their faith and maturity as I get to help support them in navigating through their spiritual walk, academics, friendships, athletics, and everyday life. I have a passion for giving students the opportunity to try new athletic activities in a positive and encouraging environment. It is my goal to help students establish healthy fitness habits and a love for physical activity, no matter what their fitness level or natural athletic ability. In my spare time I like to hang out with family doing anything outdoors. My favorite verse is Proverbs 3:5.
