Mrs. Cook joined the MCS staff in 2004 and is currently the Elementary Principal. She earned a B.A. in Journalism at the University of Oregon and enjoyed a career in publishing before becoming a teacher. In 2001, her family moved to San Diego where she followed the Lord's calling into the ministry of Christian education. Mrs. Cook received her California Teaching Credential and Masters in Education from National University. Since 2001, she has taught a total of nine years, three of those teaching at another Christian school, and six years in the MCS classroom teaching 3rd grade, before joining the administration team as Director of Curriculum and Instruction in 2010. In 2013, she was appointed Elementary Principal and considers it an honor and blessing to serve the MCS children and families. Both of Mrs. Cook’s daughters graduated from Maranatha Christian High School, and are pursuing careers in education. She is a lifelong learner who enjoys spending time with her husband and daughters, walking on the beach, cooking, and reading.
Mrs. Holm joined Maranatha Christian Schools in the fall of 2015. She grew up in Poway and attended Maranatha Chapel through middle school and high school. Mrs. Holm received her B.A. and her Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from Biola University. Then, she went on to teach for four years in the Poway Unified School District, teaching 2nd and 3rd grade. Her past experience has been in teaching mommy & me preschool classes at the Escondido Adult School. She is now thankful for the opportunity to work in a Christian school, as Mrs. Holm has spent most of her life teaching Sunday School and her true passion is to teach the Word of God to children. Mrs. Holm, along with her husband and three kids love to travel, read, be creative, and stay physically active.
Mrs. Siegel joined the MCS staff in 2019. She grew up in Orange County, spent some time in Ohio, and moved back to California in summer 2018. Mrs. Siegel received her B.S. in Child and Adolescent Studies from California State University, Fullerton in 2011 and completed her Elementary Credential Program at Ashland University in Ashland, Ohio. She has experience teaching in preschool, and most recently second grade. She is beyond excited to teach at Maranatha Christian Schools as she is extremely passionate about the Lord and education, and feels that there is no better opportunity than to serve the Lord through her passion of teaching. She loves to spend her time with her husband and three incredible children. Mrs. Siegel also enjoys going to the beach with her children and taking them to learn and explore new things.
Mrs. Prout is thrilled to be back at Maranatha Christian Schools and on the Kindergarten staff. She has nine years of elementary teaching experience and originally joined the MCS staff in 2014 as a first-grade teacher. Following that year, Mrs. Prout decided to stay home with her son before returning to MCS as a long-term substitute in 2018. Prior to her time at MCS, she taught elementary students in the South Bay Union School District and at a local charter school. Mrs. Prout attended Point Loma Nazarene University where she earned a Bachelor of Music and Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. In her spare time, Mrs. Prout loves spending time with her husband and their 4-year-old son. She also enjoys camping, hiking, playing the flute, crafting, and watching sports. Mrs. Prout has a passion for the ministry of teaching and helping students discover their own special talents. She feels very blessed to be a part of the MCS community!
Mrs. Bronson joined the MCS in 2014 after being a substitute for many years, and she is thrilled to be a part of the Kindergarten staff. Mrs. Bronson received her B.A. in Liberal Studies and Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from San Diego State University. She taught both in Riverside County and in Poway Unified School District. When her two sons were born, Mrs. Bronson left the classroom full time to focus on her family, both of her sons have attended MCS since Kindergarten. Along with subbing, Mrs. Bronson’s passion for Jesus has led her to Discipleship Ministry where she has mentored women of all ages for the last 18 years. She has also been actively involved in and has co-led ‘Moms In Prayer’ at Maranatha Christian School since her first son was in Kindergarten. She is excited to utilize her love of Jesus, children, and teaching for His glory at MCS!
Mrs. Ruiz comes to Maranatha Christian Schools as one of the Kindergarten teachers with her husband, Mr. Ruiz who also is on staff at MCS as our Director of College & Guidance. She graduated from Vanguard University with a B.A., a California Teaching Credential, and a M.A. in Education. She taught 6 years in California public schools, and 9 years in private Christian schools. During her time in the classroom she has taught multiple grade levels including: 5th, 3rd, 4th, and Kindergarten. Mrs. Ruiz has the heart of a learner, and strives to continually grow every year professionally. Having taught in both public and private schools, she loves working at a Christian school where God’s word can be poured into the lives of the student’s daily. Her favorite verse speaks into her love for teaching, “train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6). She has four wonderful children, who are a part of the MCS family, with her husband Mr. Ruiz. She considers it a blessing to serve at Maranatha Christian Schools and considers it the highest privilege to work with children every day!
Dr. Kilpatrick (also known as ‘Dr. K’ by the students) has been teaching first grade at Maranatha Christian Schools since the 2001-2002 school year. She has a son and daughter who both attended MCS. Dr. Kilpatrick has a Child Development certificate, worked as a Christian preschool teacher, and served in children's ministry for many years. She also owned a large home-based Montessori school for one to six-year-olds for eight years. Along the way, she has earned a California Teaching Credential and Master’s degree in Cross-Cultural Teaching. She also holds a doctorate in Educational Leadership and Curriculum and instruction (Ed D) which is where she gets her beloved title of ‘Dr.K’. When not teaching first grade, she loves to dance, practice yoga, and go hiking with her dog, Tucker. Dr. Kilpatrick loves teaching elementary students in Christian Education and thanks the Lord for filling her with the passion and joy to shower her students with His Word, while equipping them to reach for His perfect plan!
Mrs. Pritchett joined the MCS staff in 2014 and has a B.A. from Southern Methodist University in Psychology and an M.A. in Education from the University of North Florida. Prior to moving back to her native town of San Diego, she was an elementary teacher in Florida and Maryland. With her Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and Cross-Cultural, Language and Academic Development certification, she had the opportunity to teach reading recovery as an Impact Teacher in PUSD for several years. Mrs. Pritchett has a passion for science and takes great pride in ‘The Makery’ at MCS and the robotics program all while keeping up with new national science standards. Outside of the classroom, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three daughters, running, going to the beach, hiking, gardening, exploring San Diego and playing with her dog, Daisy. Mrs. Pritchett feels blessed to teach in a Christian environment while helping all students at Maranatha soar to new heights!
Mrs. Barclay began her teaching career at MCS during the 2010-2011 school year. She has her B.A. in Liberal Studies and a minor in Biblical Studies through Biola University, where she also received her California and ACSI teaching credential. Mrs. Barclay grew up in Rancho Bernardo and attending Maranatha Chapel. In the summers she has enjoyed being a full-time nanny, teaching math, sports and games, cooking, baking, and Kindergarten classes at MCS. Mrs. Barclay is grateful that the Lord led her to the wonderful MCS family!
Mrs. Saleh is excited for another amazing year at MCS teaching second grade! She received her B.A. with a major in Psychology and a minor in Human Services at Metropolitan State College of Denver, and her M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction with her Elementary Education License from the University of Colorado. Her life and career are dedicated to children and helping them succeed. She has a fabulous husband of 24 years, 4 precious children, an amazing daughter-in-law, and a precious grandbaby boy. She, along with her two youngest children and husband, moved to San Diego a little over a year ago to be closer to family and she is eager to see what God has planned. Along with loving to swim, bike, and run, she also enjoys playing at the beach, skiing, hiking, exploring new places, learning new things, participating in Bible study, remodeling, and spending time with family and friends.
Mrs. Young joined the MCS staff in 2014. She graduated from Vanguard University with a B.A. in Liberal Studies and a minor in Music. She later continued her education at Vanguard receiving her Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction. She holds a California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. Mrs. Young taught in public schools for nine years both in Santa Ana and Bakersfield. Upon moving to San Diego in 2010, she felt God calling her to Christian education. She has taught third grade for the last four years at another Christian school. Her family attends City View Church where her husband is the Youth Pastor, and they have two children who also attend MCS. While not teaching, Mrs. Young loves to read, watch movies, and spend time with her amazing family.
Mrs. Root has been teaching third grade at Maranatha Christian Schools since the 2011-2012 school year. She earned her B.A. in Liberal Studies and Multiple Subject Teaching Credential at California State University San Marcos. Mrs. Root grew up here in San Diego and has attended Maranatha Chapel for many years, where she still faithfully attends with her husband. Since she was in high school, Mrs. Root has loved to participate in mission trips, tutoring programs, summer camps, and summer school. She student taught in first and third grade, and completed a year of long-term substitute work at MCS and PUSD. Now she thoroughly enjoys teaching her enthusiastic third graders and coordinating the ACSI Spelling Bee. She feels completely blessed to be a part of the MCS community!
Mrs. Willis is a fourth-grade teacher at MCS who has taught at the school from 1995-1999, 2003-2005 and overall, has been teaching a total of 20 years! She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies at San Diego State University and Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from National University. She began teaching in a Special Education and then transitioned to teaching in the regular classroom. When not teaching, you will find Mrs. Willis cheering for her beloved Chargers or Aztecs or attending any one of the many basketball games her son participates in. She loves to spend time with her two sons and husband of 23 years playing cards or board games and is quite happy to be at Maranatha!
Mrs. Werner joined the elementary teaching staff in the 2013-2014 school year. She has been teaching for 16 years for both public and private schools. She has a B.A. from San Diego State in Liberal Studies and a minor in Musical Theater. She is very involved in her church and is the drama leader there, which allows her the blessing of performing skits before sermons as well as at women’s events. Mrs. Werner loves public speaking and is currently in charge of the ACSI Speech Meet for Maranatha. She is happily married with two teenaged children and in her spare time, she enjoys hiking, going to musicals, and being at Disneyland.
Ms. Noel started her teaching career at Maranatha Christian Schools during the 2011-2012 school year. She knew the Lord had great plans, putting the desire in her heart to work with children at a young age. Ms. Noel attended California State University Chico where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies and a minor in Child Development. After graduation, she continued her education at California State University San Marcos where she earned her Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. Always imagining herself teaching on the primary level, the Lord led Ms. Noel to MCS where she was asked to teach fifth grade. She has been teaching fifth grade for over six years and is enjoying every moment of it. Her love for fifth grade is immense, and she could never imagine teaching a different grade. Ms. Noel has also been blessed with the opportunity to be part of the elementary ASB team and couldn’t be happier to be working at such a wonderful school!
Mrs. Ekeroth is passionate about serving Jesus Christ and the families at MCS as a fifth-grade teacher. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies and her Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from Point Loma Nazarene University in 2002. It was in that same year that she began teaching third grade at Maranatha. After teaching for a few years, she left MCS to be a stay-at-home mom. While at home Mrs. Ekeroth spent much of her time participating in and leading AWANA, Sunday school, Girl Scouts, and volunteering in her kids' classrooms. She enjoys going on adventures in the family motor home with her husband and three kids. She spends her free time running, playing tennis and reading. She is thrilled to be at MCS working with the wonderful students and staff. Go Eagles!
Mrs. Beiler joined MCS in the 2014-2015 school year and currently teaches Elementary and JH Spanish as well as coaching Girls Varsity Volleyball. Mrs. Beiler grew up near Tampa, FL, after high school, she moved to Pennsylvania and received her B.A. in Biology from Swarthmore College, near Philadelphia. While there, she studied abroad for a semester in Spain living with a Spanish family and taking her classes at the University of Sevilla. After college, Mrs. Beiler moved to San Diego where she received her Master's of Education from National University. Coach Beiler has lead the Girls Varsity team to great victories and as it stands the team has won league three years in a row. She has lead the team to CIF two years in a row and in 2017 they clinched the first-ever state title in any sport. In 2017, Coach Beiler was also named California Small Schools Coach of the Year with two players making the all-state team and one being named all-American. Mrs. Beiler also enjoys photography, traveling, kayaking, singing and spending time with her husband, Kelvin, and their two dogs.
Ms. Belgum joined the Performing Arts team in Spring 2019 after graduating from Biola University with a B.A. in Music and Biblical Studies. She boasts an impressive performance resume which includes numerous musical theatre performances, singing competitions, Legoland appearances and singing the national anthem for the San Diego Padres. Ms. Belgum has lead worship at Hume Lake Christian Camps and at several local churches as well. Her great rapport with children and passion to teach music and drama makes her a dynamic addition to the department.
Ms. Gordon joined the Maranatha Christian Schools teaching staff as fourth-grade teacher in the 2012-2013 school year. She worked in the classroom for three years teaching fourth grade and was led by the Lord, to move out of the classroom into the TK-8 girl’s PE coach position. Ms. Gordon has been involved in athletics the majority of her life, including playing basketball through college. She also has coached girls’ basketball, both at MCS, and with other organizations. She is passionate about athletes and motivating students to use ALL that they are for the glory of the Lord; heart, mind and body. She is excited to use the talents God has given her and always looks forward to the opportunities of reaching more students through PE and athletics.
Mrs. Rhoads joined the MCS staff in 2008 to teach Studio Art and currently teaches K-8 art. She originally grew up on the East Coast in Charlotte, North Carolina and graduated with a B.A., double majoring in Studio Art and Spanish from Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia. She studied her junior year abroad in Seville, Spain studying the Spanish language and art history. In 2001, Mrs. Rhoads moved to San Diego and became the director of The Artist’s Gallery in La Jolla. She then began working under a local muralist, also doing a variety of faux finishing projects. Mrs. Rhoads has her M.A. in Expressive Arts Therapy and has a passion for leading arts groups for elderly at local assisted living facilities. In her free time, Mrs. Rhoads enjoys spending time with her husband and traveling. She also enjoys creating art and crafting, as well as being outside enjoying God’s beautiful creation!
Coach Rodgers began his teaching and coaching career at Maranatha Christian Schools during the 2000-2001 school year. He currently serves as the Associate Athletic Director and K-8 physical education teacher. While attending Ohio State University on a lacrosse scholarship, he decided to focus on the fields of athletic administration and coaching. However, God had another plan, and he quickly became involved in the Health Club revolution of the early 80’s. Later after opening several clubs in the Orange County/LA area, he settled in San Diego. Coach's passions are kids, sports and teaching the love of Christ through athletic competition. He also holds a B.A. in Christian Studies from Grand Canyon University and has coached football, basketball, volleyball, and lacrosse at every level over his 14 years of ministry at MCS. He is married to Suzi Rodgers, MCS International Admissions Coordinator and they have two grown children who both attended MCS. Coach often tells anyone who will listen “I haven’t worked a day in 14 years, to God be the Glory!”
Mrs. Santiago joined MCS during the 2005-2006 school year and has always loved working in a school setting. She graduated from Cal State San Marcos with a B.A. in Liberal Studies, along with her teaching credential. She began her teaching career in a public school and taught grades Kindergarten and 4th grade. She then felt called to teach in a private school and found MCS, where she was ecstatic to accept a first-grade teaching position. Mrs. Santiago taught first-grade for nine years before dedicating herself to a stay at home mom for a few years. She came back to MCS as the Technology Coach for grades TK-8. Integrating technology has always been her desire, especially after taking numerous courses to learn, understand and apply how technology has expanded in today’s digital age. Outside of school, Mrs. Santiago enjoys photography, sports, vacationing, and spending time with her family. She is so happy and blessed to be part of such a wonderful community at MCS!
